Overview
MindChart is a local-first app for capturing notes and turning them into a graph of thoughts.
A note is a titled page. Inside it, the editor stores a list of thoughts — paragraphs, bullets, checklists, and headings. Thoughts can carry a category, a semantic label, and links into the graph.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Write notes with a structured editor (headings, bullets, checklists, inline paragraphs).
- Split a long paragraph into separate thoughts, or merge several back together.
- Browse related thoughts on a knowledge graph.
- Search by meaning, not only by exact words.
- Keep multiple workspaces and lock a workspace with a recovery passphrase.
How data is stored
Section titled “How data is stored”Everything lives in an on-device SQLite database (SQLCipher). Embeddings for search and graph layout are generated on the device when you save.
The optional Express server exists for features that need a remote model (for example OpenAI-backed generation). The mobile app does not require it for day-to-day notes.
Platforms
Section titled “Platforms”MindChart is a React Native / Expo app. Current QA builds target Android. See Download for installers.
